come round one afternoon and we'll
take a walk down by the lakeside,
counting invisible ducks and
throwing sticks to fish who
aren't there.
we'll see who can climb the highest
up the tree in the manor grounds.
you'll win of course,
and i'll be too scared and
graze my hands on the way down.
we can go back to my house
(don't worry, noone's home)
and warm our hands
and noses
on the radiator.
we'll burn our mouths drinking tea through straws.
later we can brave the cold
for hours.
we don't like being inside for too long.
we'll wander through the dark, me clutching
at your jacket.
taking the music with us to deafen the
silence.
we'll joke about how we're not good for each other,
cause you radiate paranoia
and we're both big cowards.
